Founded in April 1996, martiensgohome is a sound collective whose primary outlet is radio. Operating at the crossroad between radio drama and improvised electronic music, it has been present on the airwaves of Brussels, on radio campus, without interruption since its first broadcast. Instant soundscape, musique concrete sauvage, martiensgohome's music is first and foremost a celebration of the sound spectrum, from the roughest noise to the tiniest resonance. Through line-up changes, regular or occasionnal guests, special projects, challenges, game pieces, the collective has tried and maintained a constant renewal, justifying its longevity. In 1998, it produced a series of exceptionnal concerts in the Bruxelles-Chapelle train station, in order to test new forms of public performance, that would neither be a broadcasting nor a conventional concert. Today, it is back in the station to celebrate its 12 years of existence through an exhibition of photos, videos and sound material, and through a new series of concerts.
To commemorate this occasion, martiensgohome has also published a retrospective "box set" under the guise of a wonderful usb-key, containing the equivalent of ten complete albums, previously unissued, and some photographs. These albums have been chosen among an archive of roughly 600 hours of musical and radiophonic material, covering the period 1999 to 2008. The key and its box are made of bamboo, and are emblazoned with the martiensgohome logo. It is now available, during the exhibition, at the concerts, or by simply asking. This is a limited edition, and is generously priced at 15 euros.
